Everyday Miracles

It seems the everyday blessing, in this case, miracles, are on my mind lately.  God has seen fit to send my family a MONARCH BUTTERFLY CATERPILLAR to live on my milkweed!  Imagine!   We get a front row seat to one of God’s everyday miracles!  What have I done to deserve this blessing!  I am truly enamored by this multi-legged creature and the possibilities it presents for my faith!  Big bang?  That’s a hoot!  How can anyone believe that a chemical reaction caused this unfettered beauty, blessing, miracle?!  It just doesn’t make sense.  To watch this beautiful creature crawl on this “specific” plant, eat it’s weight worth by the hour, know that it will soon attach itself to a leaf, morph into an even more beautiful, spectacular creature, the Monarch Butterfly….There cannot be a doubt that our Creator designed this with our need to “see” a miracle take place.  Our need to have something more than words to restore, maintain, nourish our faith in Him.  I am also witnessing another miracle.  It’s a miracle I have personally experienced and that is the miracle of human gestation.  I am being given an opportunity by my God to watch the being that “morphed” in my womb grow a little human being in her womb!  What a gift!  What a miracle.  What a blessing!  Thank you Lord for “everyday” miracles.  Thank you for giving me beauty and miracles and blessings on a daily basis to keep me focused on Your Love for me!

“Blue skies with white clouds on summer days.  A myriad of stars on clear moonlit nights.  Tulips and roses and violets and dandelions and daisies.  Bluebirds and laughter and sunshine and Easter.  See how He loves us!”  Alice Chapin

This is how much God loved the world:  He gave His Son, His one and only Son.  And this is why:  so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.  John 3:16

Can You Say…Blessed?

Can you say “blessed?”  I know we throw the word “blessed” around a lot these days.  Blessings are really not meant to be everyday happenings…but for me, for many of us, it’s just really hard not to think that way!  Every good thing in my life has been given to me by my God.  He allows the not so good things and they always seem to happen for a reason.  How can I not feel blessed?  My Lord looks down on me, me…Little ole me.  And He see’s fit to provide me with my precious family, my unbelievably wonderful friends, a soon to be grand baby (a dream come true!) and a “job” teaching children to read and about  the Love of Jesus!  I know blessings are a big deal.  We shouldn’t throw the word around, I agree.  But I have a feeling that Jesus  just really appreciates being thanked for the mundane that He advocates for us.  Some people don’t even have the basics but take a look around…even the most weary of humans can find a blessing, a smile, in the everyday.  I am blessed.  I am thankful.  I am loved.  Now, to walk the walk of Jesus…

“The wonder of our Lord is that He is so accessible to us in the common things of our lives:  the cup of water…breaking of the bread…welcoming children in to our arms…fellowship over a meal…giving thanks.”  Nancie Carmichael
